Nikkaluokta – Kebnekaise Mountain Base

For those who want fresh feet before the summit hike, you can choose to take the helicopter up to the base. Kallax Flyg’s scheduled flights between Nikkaluokta and Kebnekaise Mountain Base operate twice daily during peak season, and once daily in early and late summer according to the timetable below. You can also send your luggage separately to make the hike up to the base more comfortable.

To join the scheduled flights, please purchase your ticket on the day of departure at the helicopter landing pad. Tickets can also be bought at the helicopter base in Nikkaluokta. Everyone with a valid ticket who arrives on time for their departure is guaranteed a seat — there is no maximum limit on tickets sold.
Please note that tickets cannot be reserved or booked by phone, and you do not need to call to inform us about the number of passengers flying.

In case of poor weather conditions (fog or low clouds), flights may be canceled or departure times delayed. Wind and rain rarely affect our operations.

At each location, a queue system applies regardless of whether you have purchased your ticket in advance. The helicopters operate shuttle flights until everyone present for departure has been transported.

If you have a scheduled time to keep, it’s advisable to arrive early to secure a position near the front of the queue.

We always fill all helicopters, so groups must be prepared to split up to ensure full occupancy.

All prices include VAT.

If you only want to send luggage, please follow the instructions posted in the wind shelter by the helicopter pad. Purchase a ticket for your luggage the same way you buy a ticket for the scheduled flights. Then place your luggage in the wind shelter. There is no need for rain protection, as the luggage will be kept under cover at all times.

Please note that the helicopter’s cargo space is limited, and if you have ice axes, they must be properly covered to avoid damaging other passengers’ gear.

IMPORTANT! NO TRASH IS ALLOWED TO BE LEFT AT THE HELICOPTER PAD OR WIND SHELTER. TRASH POSES A SAFETY HAZARD AS IT CAN BLOW INTO THE ROTORS.

When does the helicopter depart?
The helicopter departs according to the timetable. Everyone who is at the departure point on time is guaranteed a seat. The helicopters operate shuttle flights until all passengers present on time have reached their destination.

I want to fly at a different time than the scheduled departures, what should I do?
If you want to fly at a different time, you need to book a private helicopter. You can do this by either:

Is the helicopter flying today if it’s raining and windy?
Rain and wind are usually not a problem for flying. Flights are most often canceled due to poor visibility or low cloud base.

I plan to fly with the line next week, can I buy a ticket now?
No, tickets are purchased on site the same day as departure.

I only want to send luggage, how does that work?
Follow the instructions “Sending Luggage” posted in the wind shelter by the helicopter pad at Kebnekaise STF.

How many passengers fit in the helicopter?
Kallax Flyg operates a diverse fleet with helicopters seating 4, 5, 6, or 7 passengers. The ground staff will inform you which helicopter will be used on your flight day before departure.

How long does the flight take?
The flight time between Kebnekaise and Nikkaluokta is between 6 and 8 minutes, depending on wind conditions.
