Moose

A key part of Kallax Flyg’s operations involves supporting wildlife and nature. We assist both reindeer herding and wildlife research with a variety of helicopter services.

With extensive experience in these fields, we understand our customers’ challenges and requirements thoroughly. Whether it’s gathering reindeer or tagging wild animals, we know what is expected of our efforts to ensure the best possible outcome.

Wildlife Inventory

When surveying large animal populations, helicopters offer a unique advantage by covering and overseeing vast areas efficiently. Many species can be more difficult to detect using remote sensing equipment, especially when they are resting or hidden, compared to direct visual observation from the air.

Reindeer Herding

Reindeer herding is a vital part of the regions we operate in, spanning from coastal areas to high mountain terrain. Helicopters are an unmatched tool for monitoring reindeer populations and their distribution over vast geographical areas.

Collaboration with snowmobile- or ATV-based herders on the ground is a central part of the pilot’s role during these operations, requiring both experience and a deep understanding of the work involved.

Kallax Flyg is equipped with specialized gear for these assignments and offers a wide selection of aircraft tailored to the nature and scale of each mission.

Wildlife Tagging

Kallax Flyg conducts wildlife tagging assignments for both Swedish and Norwegian projects, government agencies, and research institutions. Notable clients include the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), the Scandinavian Brown Bear Project, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (SNO), and the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.

We have extensive experience tagging bears, wolves, lynx, and moose, but our techniques and methods are also applicable to other species.
